Building upon years of dedicated service, the Dignity Mission now operates under the umbrella of Familias Triunfadoras, Inc., expanding our ability to mobilize volunteers, strengthen community partnerships, and provide essential resources to individuals and families in need.

What We Do

The Dignity Mission is a humanitarian outreach initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable migrants and displaced families along the U.S.–Mexico border. Through the generosity of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we provide essential resources that restore dignity, offer comfort, and bring hope to those facing difficult circumstances.

Dignity Kits

Volunteers assemble thousands of Dignity Kits filled with essential personal hygiene items, including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and other necessities. Each kit is thoughtfully packaged and distributed through shelters, outreach teams, and humanitarian partners across the border region.

Food & Clothing Assistance

We collect and distribute food and essential items, including beans, rice, baby food, blankets, coats, socks, and other basic necessities to help individuals and families meet their immediate needs.

Children's Support

Children arriving at the border often have very few personal belongings. We provide toys, books, school supplies, and comfort items to help bring hope, encouragement, and a sense of normalcy during difficult times.

Women's Hygiene Support

We distribute Days for Girls® hygiene kits and other feminine care products, ensuring women and girls have access to essential hygiene resources while preserving their health and dignity.

Our Story

The Dignity Mission began in 2018 as a grassroots effort in Placitas, New Mexico, where a small group of neighbors assembled simple "Dignity Kits" for migrants arriving at the U.S.–Mexico border.

What started as a local act of kindness quickly grew into a regional humanitarian effort supported by hundreds of volunteers throughout the El Paso border community. Today, as a program of Familias Triunfadoras, Inc., the Dignity Mission continues to provide hygiene kits, food, clothing, children's supplies, and other essential resources to individuals and families seeking safety and hope.

For many recipients, a Dignity Kit is the first personal care package they have received in weeks—a simple but meaningful reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Dr. Eva Moya has dedicated nearly four decades to advancing health equity, human rights, and social justice along the U.S.–Mexico border. As Program Director of the Dignity Mission, she leads humanitarian outreach efforts, coordinates community partnerships, and works alongside volunteers and organizations to provide essential support to migrants and displaced families.

Her leadership and expertise continue to strengthen the program's impact while promoting compassion, dignity, and hope for those facing extraordinary challenges.

Maria Covernali

Founder & Executive Director

Maria Covernali is the Founder and Executive Director of Familias Triunfadoras, Inc. Since founding the organization in 2006, she has dedicated her life to empowering women, children, and families through education, health promotion, advocacy, and community outreach. Under her leadership, the organization has grown into a trusted nonprofit serving thousands of individuals throughout El Paso County.

With the addition of the Dignity Mission to Familias Triunfadoras, Inc., Maria continues to expand the organization's humanitarian efforts by building strong partnerships, mobilizing volunteers, and ensuring essential resources reach individuals and families in need with compassion, respect, and dignity.
